MRT stands for Mediator Release Test and is a way of testing for food sensitivities using blood. This test is very useful in determining a common source of inflammation: food. Using blood we can test for Type 4 reactions to 170 common foods and chemicals to determine what foods and/or chemicals are driving inflammation in your body.
There are 3 types of food-based reactions: Type 1, Type 3 and Type 4.
Type 1 food reactions are true food allergies. These are reactions that happen relatively quickly and are usually known by the person who has them. A peanut allergy is an example of a Type 1 reaction: the person who has this reaction typically knows because the reaction happens soon after consuming the food that causes the reaction.
Type 3 food reactions are hypersensitivities and are not immediate in nature but can take up to 3 days to manifest. In this case, the immune system is involved which ultimately results in injured tissues and symptom manifestation. It’s possible an individual knows they have this sensitivity because it can sometimes be traced back to food consumed within a day or two of a reaction.
Type 4 food reactions are food reactions due to T-cell activation, not the immune system. Type 4 sensitivities are delayed by up to a week, which means a headache (for example) that is caused by a food or chemical may occur up to 7 days after the exposure. This makes identifying this type of food sensitivity’s origin difficult to determine. That is until now. The MRT blood test identifies which of the 170 foods and chemicals on the test are driving your sensitivity. By finding out what you’re sensitive to we can cut out the offender, and thereby eliminate the driving force of your migraines, brain fog, fatigue, pain, malaise, etc.
The results of the test are available quickly! Once the blood is sent to the lab we will have the results in about 5-7 business days.
Included with your testing fee you are entitled to one follow-up meeting to review your results and give you a plan of action to guide you on your path to healing.
Don’t wait! Find out what is driving your inflammation today!
